Beef Stew With Oven Chips


McCain Steakhouse Chips

500 grams McCain Mix Veg

2 tablespoons oil

800 grams beef, cubed

1 tablespoon butter

2 large onions diced

2 bay leaves

2 teaspoons whole grain mustard

2 teaspoons garlic and ginger paste


3 - 4 cups beef stock


Salt and pepper

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 120 minutes

  1. Heat oil on medium to high heat in a large pot
  2. Season the beef and fry in batches and set aside
  3. To the same pot add a blob of butter and add the onions and bay leaves and fry until translucent
  4. Add in the garlic and ginger paste, whole grain mustard and thyme and fry for a minute
  5. Now add the beef back into the pot
  6. Mix well and add in 2 cups of the beef stock, lower the heat and simmer for about 30 minutes
  7. Add in the rest of the stock and simmer for a further 50 minutes, the meat should be getting tender now – if the meat is not tender add more stock
  8. Add in the mix veg and cook for a further 15 minutes
  9. Cook until the meat is tender
  10. Serve with McCain Steakhouse Chips
